2 cups self raising flour
3 tbsp butter
pinch of salt (optional)
1.5 tbsp sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
oil for frying


  1. Sift flour with salt into a bowl.
  2. Rub butter through flour, with fingertips, to resemble breadcrumbs
  3. Add in sugar, mix well.
  4. Lightly beat egg and milk together
  5. Gradually add egg milk mix to flour until it resembles a soft dough.
  6. Kneed dough until smooth
  7. Roll out dough till the thickness of a finger
  8. Cut out with circle cutters, though you could try different shapes for varity.
  9. Fry in heated oil until golden brown
  10. Toss in cinnamon sugar
